The state of the art BD FASCS Fusion Cell sorter (SORP) installed at the IISER Pune Flow Cytometry facility provides a wide variety of cell sorting applications to researcher at and around IISER Pune since its inception in 2019. With the aim to enhance research potential the facility also imparts regular trainings and workshops for all interested users.

The advance sorter facilitates high-speed sorting upto 70000 events/second and multicolor analysis of up to 18 colors. Additionally the machine is capable of single cell sorting directly into tissue culture plates of all formats (6 wells to 384 wells) with close to 100% efficiency. The machine also houses variable sizes of sort nozzles starting from 70µM to 130 µM for improved efficiency and increased potential to sort a range of cell sizes compared to the traditional cell sorters.

• Advanced and Basic trainings are organized in batches of 4-6 participants for users having little or no knowledge of FACS. During the training we demonstrate multi color cell sorting and provide hands on experience in Machine Startup and Shut Down, Daily QC (CS&T and Accudrop drop delay), Color compensation, and basic operation of Diva software.
